Search Engine Help

There are a lot of questions that are asked about how Search Engines operate. The best answer we can give is: They change their criteria and modus operandi monthly and technique and rules vary from Search Engine to Search Engine.

To begin with we will state a very simplified version of how the Internet works.

Think of the Internet as a virtual information highway. Think of websites as “billboards”, “establishments”,  and “road signs” along the side of the highway.

Consider the Search Engines as creators of “maps.” The “maps” are free to the public… your browser window is a type of map. You type in what you are interested in seeing or reading about and the search engine you have chosen gives you a list of webpage options from zero to over a million in some instances. The first option listed is not always the best, it is simply the best keyworded website (more information on keywords below).

Depending on how and what you type into a search engine, which search engine used, and how the webmaster keyworded the webpages, you may not even come close to what you are looking for. Do not despair, just think of another way to phrase what you are looking for or another word or word group or phrase that describes what you are looking for. Instead of “cats” enter the breed of cat you are interested in, then narrow it even more by using  “breed of cat and for sale”. For the very technical person there is Boolean language to use. Websites and pages highlighted in the first paragraphs in color are “paid placement websites”. In other words, the owner of the website has purchased that spot on the “map”. They are not necessarily the best; they simply had enough money to buy their position. Websites listed separately on the right in small boxes are also usually paid placement websites. Most websites state that these websites are “sponsored” websites, meaning paid placement advertising that particular website under the phrase you typed into the search engine..

There are several ways for your website to be considered for a listing on a Search Engine.

There is no guaranteed method that you will be listed as the number one choice under a certain keyword unless you pay for that position.

You may manually submit your website to each individual search engine. You may pay a company to submit your website to multiple search engines. You can just post your website to the Internet and hope that eventually a search engine(s) will index your website.  Within three to six months most websites that consist of at least some relevant text will at least be listed under the name of the website.

The best way we have found to get your website listed on a search engine is to keyword each page carefully, have matching relevant text on each page, a title that uses some of the keywords for that page in it, and no “frames” on the web pages. We also highly recommend paying the extra 200.00 (estimate) to have your website submitted to over 200 search engines monthly. Having a “links” page on your website is highly recommended as well. Click here for information on a link page. Search engines are looking for websites that can give them more websites to index.

Having an attractive banner or two to exchange with other websites is highly recommended as well. Click here for samples of banners and pricing.

Only 20 keywords or keyword phrases are recommended per page. Keywords must pertain to your website and preferably to each page.
We charge 100.00 for 20 keywords that pertain to your website overall. These keywords are researched specifically for your website, we weed out keywords that are over used and that it is next to impossible to receive  placement in the first 30 listings. Your input is essential.
Modified keywording per page is 30.00.
Custom Titles per page 10.00. (Titles have turned out to be very important in Search Engine Placement)
Search engine attraction snippets, 60.00 per page. These are synopsis paragraphs about the contents of your webpage using the keywords as well as attempting to make it read sensibly.

We use Google, which is a Meta Search Engine, as the main search engine we want your website to be listed on. AOL, Yahoo, MSN, and many other search engines use Google as a way to obtain content without the expense of doing it themselves.
